Our Board of Directors represent our vast range of members in the DC and Baltimore area. Each brings experience and leadership from various industries as well as the special Iowa spirit. We thank them for their time and commitment to the University of Iowa and their fellow DC area Hawkeyes.

Kevin Meredith - President'01 Bachelor’s Electrical/Computer Engineering
Kevin is originally from Newton, Iowa and moved to Washington, D.C. in 2006. Kevin’s been involved with the CAIC since he’s been in DC, playing on the flag football team, doing volunteer work, running gamewatches at both locations and redesigning the club’s website. He has been serving as the President since 2014. Kevin is an Account Director for AWS. |
Nicole Gustafson - Vice President'03 Juris Doctor
Nicole is originally from Chariton, Iowa, and moved to Washington, D.C., in 2004. Nicole worked in Congress for 11 years (including for Rep. King and Sen. Grassley) and now serves as Vice President of Government Relations for the National Association of Broadcasters. She helps out with CAIC's Hawkeye football and basketball game watches and with congressional events and requests. Nicole was also an inaugural member of both the softball and flag football teams. |
Ann Gordon - Treasurer'02 Bachelor of Arts
Ann Gordon graduated from University of Iowa in 2002 and has served on the board since 2008. As an undergraduate, Ann was involved with the alumni association's efforts to connect students with alumni, and brings that spirit forth through the formation of the Intern Buddy Program to connect DC-area alumni with students interning in the nation's capital. Ann works for a DC-based company providing consulting services to federal clients, and lives in Takoma Park, Maryland. |
Christine Wirth - Secretary
'08 Bachelor of Arts, Journalism and Mass Communication
Christine moved from Chicago to Washington, D.C., in 2014. While officially born in Lombard, IL, Christine's family hails from Dubuque and she is proud of her Iowa blood. Through CAIC, Christine manages the Honor Flight program and organizes volunteer events. She currently works in healthcare management in strategy and engagement at Kaiser Permanente. |
Brad Moss - Director of Operations
'86 Bachelor's Communication Studies
Brad is originally from Burlington, Iowa, and first moved to Washington, D.C., in 1990. Brad’s been involved in the CAIC since he arrived and a member of the Board of Directors since 1993. He has played on the flag football and softball teams, participated in many volunteer activities, and helped organize football trips to Penn State and Maryland. He currently works at the National Institutes of Health as a Director of Communications. |
Egenia Dixon - Director of Student Outreach
‘97 Bachelor of Liberal Studies
Egenia is a Chicago, IL, native and relocated to the DC metropolitan area in February 1998. Egenia found her niche immediately, volunteering at the local college fairs in the tri-state area, and in 2004, was appointed as the CAIC’s Volunteer Coordinator supporting the Alumni Seeking Iowa Students (ASIST) program. Her commitment to public service and club activities is evidenced by the energy and enthusiasm she exudes when sharing the "Iowa Experience" with others. She is currently a Lead, Internal Auditor for the federal government. |
Brian Lein - Director of Membership
’12 Bachelor’s Accounting/Finance
Brian is originally from Hayward, Wisconsin, and moved to Washington, D.C., in 2012. Brian’s been involved with the CAIC since he’s been here, playing on (& coaching) the flag football team, doing volunteer work, and managing the club’s membership since 2014. He’s currently an Auditor for the Department of Defense. |
Lisa Schooley - Director of Design'01 B.B.A. Marketing
Lisa is originally a Chicago suburbanite who moved to Washington, D.C., in 2005 after a few post-college years in Austin, TX. After her previous softball team disbanded, Lisa was looking for other opportunities to meet people and wear all of her Hawkeye gear -- the CAIC softball team was a perfect fit. She's been happily providing t-shirt and Chili Bowl button designs ever since. A proud B.B.A. Iowa grad, Lisa currently works in public transportation and will be happy to help you figure out which bus to take to the next gamewatch. |
Daniel Kocen - Director of Current Affairs’18 Masters in Business Administration- Finance
Dan Kocen is originally from Los Angeles, CA and moved to Washington, D.C. shortly after graduating from Iowa in 2018. Dan looks forward to coordinating events between the Iowa Club and the DC community. He is a federal consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. |
Levi Hofts - Aide-de-Camp, President, CAIC'07 Bachelor's of International Studies
Levi is a 2004 graduate of Ottumwa High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa, majoring in International Studies with an emphasis in international relations. He is an active duty Marine Officer, completing his second tour within the National Capital Region and with the Capitol Area Iowa Club. |
Joshu Shih — Director of Transportation
Joshu is originally from Iowa City, Iowa, and moved to Arlington, Virginia in 2013. He was literally born into Hawkeye fandom, as his parents were graduate students at the University of Iowa when he was born. Joshu helped organize CAIC's trip to Philadelphia in January 2020 to watch the Hawkeye men's basketball team take on Penn State in the University of Pennsylvania's storied Palestra. He works in public transportation and, since moving to the DC area, has been able to fulfill his lifelong dream of taking the subway to watch the Hawkeyes play.
